Learn To Fight

I watched a young child take a first turn down the zip line only to jump off and jump back on, holding up the line behind them. My two girls happened to be next in line. Everything in me wanted to run over there and rectify the situation. My husband quickly told me that our girls needed to learn to speak up for themselves and handle their own battles. I quietly reflected. This was true.
God wants the same for you and I. He wants to come to our aid and save us immediately. He sees when we are being mistreated or mishandled. But if he came urgently to our rescue each time, how would we learn to fight?
God wanted the inexperienced Israelites to learn warfare without him intervening immediately. So he allowed them to be in the midst of their enemies to gain experience and skill. Successful strategy is only accomplished by means of exercise.
You can’t truly know what it means to bust the devil upside the head or give him a black eye if you won’t fight. You can’t know what it takes to silence your enemy or send him running with his tail between his legs if you won’t speak up for yourself. You must become versed in using your kingdom stance.
